As one would expect, a city with so much to offer is not short of places to get a performing arts education. Classical musicians and singers can study at the prestigious New England Conservatory of Music; jazz and pop musicians at the Berklee College of Music; dancers at the Boston Ballet School; and Boston University offers music education and theatre degrees for the aspiring performer.
The arts scene is Boston is quite healthy and government employment projections suggest that musicians can expect an 18% increase in the number of available jobs through 2010. Employment in theatre is predicted to experience a 14% increase. Both of these sectors should see a significant increase in new jobs available as well as the usual replacement posts. By contrast, the employment projections for dance indicate zero growth, but also zero decline.
